Thorndon Park Golf Club is laid out in 240-acres of Elizabethan deer park, formerly the ancient hunting grounds attached to impressive Thorndon Hall. Here you'll find one of London's golfing gems, and one of the few top-rated courses found on the east side of the capital.
Occupying a wonderfully natural setting with small lakes, menacing water ditches and plenty of gnarled old oak trees, this wonderfully undulating (but never hilly) course is a quintessential English delight. The bunkering is superb, the greens fast and true, and every hole exudes Harry Colt's mastery of golf course design. The fairways are spacious enough for long-hitters not to feel too constrained from the tee. The par-4 3rd serves up one of the more testing drives, with plenty of water to cross before the safety of the fairway is reached.
The second of the two nine-hole loops comes to a fitting climax in front of the Palladian mansion of Thorndon Hall, a magnificent backdrop to the final hole. Thorndon Park is not just the best golf course in the County of Essex, but undeniably one of the top rated parkland layouts around London.

The sumptuous Thorndon Hall, seen beyond the 18th green, was one of the ancestral homes of the aristocratic Petre family. The Hall served as the golf clubhouse until 1974 and is now a residential development of flats.

The Masters: The 88th Masters Tournament at Augusta National sees LIV golfer Jon Rahm defend his title against the world’s best. Pressing hard will be world No.1 and 2022 champion Scottie Scheffler and world No.2 Rory McIlroy (April 11-14).
Chevron Championship: the women’s major championship season gets underway for the second year at its new Carlton Woods home outside Houston, Texas. World No.2 Lilia Vu defends (April 18-21).
Nelly Korda: records a perfect start to 2024 with four wins out of her last four appearances on the LPGA Tour, a feat last achieved by Lorena Ochoa in 2008. Korda's win at the T-Mobile Match Play brought up her 12th LPGA Tour victory.
Scottie Scheffler: narrowly missed out on matching Nelly Korda’s three-in-three, when he placed second at the Houston Open. This followed back-to-back wins at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players. Like Korda, he remains comfortably ahead in the official world golf rankings.
Marco Simone Golf & Country Club: With a clubhouse that might befit a Roman Emperor, and a golf course to match, you can be sure of a memorable outing at Rome's most talked about golf facility.
Jim Fazio's original layout was much changed to create a modern Ryder Cup course ... now one of the Eternal City's (and Italy's) most revered.
