Conwy (Caernarvonshire) Golf Club: Picturesquely situated on the Morfa peninsula between the Conwy estuary and a small outcrop of hills, lies this flattish and thoroughly enjoyable links golf course. Gentle undulations and a smattering of gorse are characteristic here, rather than towering sand dunes or ever-present bushes lining the fairways (that comes at the end !). Looking out from the golf course there is no shortage of scenery to admire - weather permitting ! The estuary is constantly in view, as is Great Orme head (under which Llandudno sits); you also look south onto the start of the Snowdonia mountains. Classic, links style pot bunkering gives each of the par-3's plenty of character (and the need for accurate shot-making), while the closing stretch, especially the 16th and 17th holes, are tightly gorse-lined and always potential card-wreckers. During dry summer months don't be surprised to find straw-coloured fairways and plenty of tight lies from which to play.
