It is not just the immensely scenic Bukit Takun (Takun Mountain) that creates a very special feel to Templer Park Country Club. Jumbo Ozaki's fabulous design also has a lot to do with this stunning golf layout. Add in top quality green-keeping and all the ingredients are in place for a challenging and hugely enjoyable round of five-star golf. The flatter front-nine will acquaint you with Ozaki's stylish earthmounding and bunkering, which, in combination with a light scattering of trees, provide excellent definition to every hole. Some good-width fairways, others made tighter by occasional water hazards and OB ensure the need for some attention to accuracy from the tee, backed-up with good quality approach work. The more undulating back-nine starts from the highest part of the course, with wonderful views onto the surrounding jungle-clad hills. The 13th and 14th, both par-4's played in a fairly open environment will give you a chance to draw breath before commencing the tough closing stretch. The second half of the wonderful par-5 15th plunges downhill towards the green, bordered on the right by thick jungle, with much tall bamboo in evidence. After a blind drive at the par-4 17th, Ozaki ensures you get a good look at the 18th from the tee. The backdrop is the ever-present Bukit Takun, while in front of you is a substantive carry over water, and plenty of bunkering defending the nicely elevated green. If you are in the Kuala Lumpur area, make sure Templer Park is somewhere near the top of your list of places to play.
