Olgiata Golf Club

4-PLUS: Must play course - excellent standard; worthy of 4½ stars.

Est. 1961

Olgiata Golf Club: One of the busiest and most prestigious golf clubs around Rome, Olgiata is home to the 18-hole West course, complemented by the 9-hole East course. Discreetly weaving its way past many large and imposing villas, this classic tree-lined layout is one of Rome's top-rated parkland golf courses.

Maintained to an excellent standard, the two pleasantly undulating nine-hole loops of the West course radiate out from the clubhouse in opposite directions. Both these nines contain several gently dog-legging and elegantly crafted holes, at times played on flattish terrain, at other times over gently undulating slopes.

With avenues of mature trees lining the holes, and plenty of stylish fairway and greenside bunkering, the course presents a fine array of golfing challenges. Small ponds and water ditches put in rare appearances; top-quality shot-making is demanded when they do.

Golfers familiar with the West course on the Wentworth Estate, one of London's finest layouts, might just see some similarities with Olgiata's West course, one of Rome's finest. The value of the surrounding real estate might also bear some comparison.
