With a ready supply of water from nearby Shingle Creek Golf Club, don't be surprised to discover that small lakes and ponds play an important role on this enjoyable and excellently presented David Harman design.
Laid out on generally open terrain, plenty of mounding and contouring have been used to break up the innate flatness of the surroundings. Looking out from the tee and approaching the greens, you'll see a plethora of stylish bunkers lying in wait for anything hit too far offline. Maturing trees provide an increasing visual separation between the well-spaced fairways, while rippling earthmounds are also deployed to give good definition to each hole. One exception to the typically well-bunkered and water-defended theme, is the par-3 7th, where neither sand nor water threaten. The two longest par-3s, the 5th and 17th holes, are more in keeping with the rest of the layout, both attractively bunkered with water also in attendance.
On the east side of the course a large wetland area, with woodland beyond, provides the main scenic interest, while the imposingly large Rosen Shingle Creek hotel is seldom out of view. The top-quality greens are home to plenty of subtle slopes and breaks, ensuring your skills with the putter will be thoroughly tested. An excellent course, that's well worth a visit.
