Club de Golf Finca Cortesin Est. 2006

Although yet to be played by the Where2Golf team, many excellent reports are filtering through about Finca Cortesin, one of the newest and longest golf course additions on the Costa del Sol. The course, which stretches to 7500 yards from the back tees, enjoys a wonderful location with beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea, the African coastline and onto the local Estepona mountains. The undulations of the surrounding rugged hills are reflected in many slopes and contours found on Cortesin's fairways and often expansive greens. A variety of natural vegetation (and no housing developments) line this testing and open layout, on which you'll find some generously wide and well-bunkered fairways. You'll be glad of that width from the tee, particularly when the wind gets up. Two ponds and several fairway-crossing water ditches will need to be factored into your game plan on a course which includes five par 3's and five par 5's. The signature par-4 13th is rated one of the best holes on the Costa del Sol. The greens here can be large and undulating, often fiercely protected by an array of stylish, white-sand bunkering. Many subtle slopes and borrows on the putting surfaces complement the more obvious undulations. The rolling landscape of Finca El Cortesin (the "farm estate of Cortesin") can now boast one of the Costa del Sol's best new courses, an excellent Cabell Robinson design that fits well with its natural surroundings.
