Where2Golf says:

Sometimes described as offering easy-going resort-style golf, the Old course at Phuket Country Club certainly packs a punch on several holes. The layout gets off to a fairly challenging start, with the front nine providing some of the most undulating and testing holes, especially as it moves towards and then traverses a wonderfully jungle-clad hill. Along the way you'll be required to make several tight and accurate drives, not least at the extravagantly u-shaped par-5 3rd. The back-to-back short par-4's at 6 and 7, are a dauntingly tight pair, both played from elevated tees, hard up against the jungle. The slightly more open and flatter back-nine introduces the first water hazard of any significance at the par-5 10th, and what an introduction it is. From an elevated tee, another u-shaped fairway is laid out in front of you, wrapped around a small lake. Its up to you how much of the lake to bite off : it has been known for big-hitters to go straight for the green, with an albatross or even a hole-in-one a possibility. Love it or hate it, this hole is certainly different and claims a few dozen balls on a daily basis. Water is also notable at the short par-4 16th and again at the exquisite, island green par-3 17th, one of the best short holes in Thailand. A fine array of straight-faced pot bunkers guard several greens, while the more open fairway bunkers provide clear indications of where to drive from the tee. Without doubt one of Phuket's most enjoyable and testing parkland gems, usually presented in excellent condition.

At the Same Location:
9-hole par-37 Country Club course (3575 yards). Many would say this is a tougher proposition than either nine on the Old Course. Water is almost continually in play on both tee and approach shots. Less played than the Old Course, but well worth visiting if you have time (and a good supply of balls). Was originally intended as an 18-holer, but the development of real estate won out over building the full 18.

Special information about the club and / or the course

Phuket Country Club was the first international standard golf course to be built in southern Thailand. It involved the conversion of an area that was once used for mining, transforming it into a semi-private golf course surrounded by the lush greenness of the Katu Valley. The clubhouse has a wealth of facilities including : restaurants, swimming pool, tennis courts, snooker, fitness, saunas, a library and conference rooms.
