De Goese Golf Est. 1994

At the far end of an area of smart new houses (each with its own canal-side mooring) lies this relatively new and exciting venue, De Goese Golf. Although set in a classically flat Dutch landscape, there is a surprising amount of undulation on the course; not surprising however is the plentiful supply of natural water hazards - enough to support a large and busy array of native birdlife (geese included). The generous width fairways will allow a relatively unhinhibited use of the driver on the longer holes, but a premium is placed on accurate approach work to the greens, lest you fall foul of the water or the extensive bunkering. From the very good back-nine, you can clearly see the naturalness and true flatness of the surrounding countryside. The size of the nearby defensive water dykes is impressive and you'll probably see one or two sails and ships' funnels mysteriously floating across the horizon. Much tree planting around the course has yet to mature; as it does "The Goose" will continue growing in stature and become a firm favourite within the ranks of Netherland's best courses.
