Where2Golf says:

RTJ Golf Trail - Oxmoor Valley (Ridge course): Here at Oxmoor Valley on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, 36-holes of sumptuous championship golf await, but you'll have to decide for yourself if you prefer the more classical Valley course or the thrills-and-spills of the roller-coaster Ridge course. The Ridge's opening downhill par-4 and subsequent back-to-back par 5's will acclimatise you to the significant elevation changes and tumbling fairways that characterise much of the layout, most especially on the front nine. Rocky bluffs, occasional water hazards and large undulating greens all contribute to the sense of challenge, fun and drama on the Ridge course. Some of the carries from the tees, over ravines, gullies and water will strongly influence your success or otherwise at each hole. There are many visually impressive and captivating holes, such as the plunging downhill par-3 8th, played to a water-surrounded green. One of the best however, is saved until the very end. The par-5, stroke-index 1, 18th has the least amount of undulation of any hole as it runs along the top of a scenic wooded ridge back to the clubhouse. In this mainly tree-lined natural environment, where houses and roads are completely absent, Robert Trent Jones has created another course to savour - but don't for a moment expect to shoot your handicap on a first outing.

Did you know?

From the rocky bluffs and excavations particularly around the par-4 4th and par-3 5th holes, you may not be surprised to discover that Oxmoor Valley was established on former mining land owned by U.S. Steel. Not far from Ross Bridge is the steel making town of Bessemer, named after the English engineer, Sir Henry Bessemer, who gave his name to one of the key pieces of equipment used in early steel making, the Bessemer Converter. >> ABOUT THE RTJ TRAIL (See Where2Golf.com entry for Silver Lakes - Did You Know section).
