Where2Golf says:

The Course at Wente Vineyards: Get ready for the most enjoyable "shark attack" you will ever experience ! Although masterpiece may be an overemployed word in some circles, it can certainly be applied to Greg Norman's design work here at Wente Vineyards. This wonderfully scenic and at times dramatically challenging golf course plays through the vines, rolling hills and grasslands of the beautiful Livermore Valley. From your first tee shot, a nerve-jangling downhiller to a not overly wide fairway, you will be tested and challenged, as well as dazzled and enthralled by the sheer spectacle and beauty of this layout. With many dramatic elevation changes and some long green-to-tee distances, it is no surprise that most players opt for a golf cart (although walking is permitted). The early, tree-lined holes, quickly give way to more open terrain, where vineyards and deep grass lie in wait for anything hit too seriously offline. The constant ups and downs of the front-nine are followed by a steep climb into an immensely scenic "hidden" valley to start the back-nine. The panoramic views from the 10th, 11th and 12th holes are fabulous. A plunging and dog-legging par-4 13th brings you back down to the main valley floor, for a flatter, but no less demanding closing stretch. With a long par-5 and then three long par-4's to finish, water hazards (almost for the first time), put in some telling appearances. Ponds and small ditches flank the fairways on these last few holes, with a good-sized pond threatening your approach shot to the final green.
