Where2Golf says:

Westmount Golf & Country Club boasts a beautifully maintained parkland golf course, which is consistently ranked in the top 15 courses in Canada. Designed by the great Stanley Thompson, the excellent tree-lined layout contains a wealth of wonderfully crafted, memorable and challenging golf holes.

Legend has it that Thompson and his apprentice Robbie Robinson spent from dawn 'til dusk walking the intended site for Westmount. Following dinner, and armed only with some pencils, a piece of brown butcher's paper and a 40-ounce bottle of Scotch whisky, Thompson worked through the night. By morning he had finished the course design ... and the bottle of whisky.

The essence of Westmount's par-73 risk-reward layout, as sketched out by the "Toronto Terror", has changed little over the years. Thompson's strategically-located stylish bunkering is found in abundance around the excellent greens and along the elegantly tree-lined fairways. One of Westmount's most picturesque holes is the par-4 14th. Here the narrowing fairway drops down to a well-bunkered green, which enjoys a beautiful backdrop of tall mature trees. A real picture at any time of year, but most especially in the fall.

Located in the leafy suburbs of Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, this handsome and challenging layout would normally be on any visiting golfers "must play" list. But, at this staunchly private club, you can only go round if physically accompanied by a member.
