Costa Teguise Golf

3-PLUS: Good course - several memorable features; worthy of 3½ stars.

Est. 1978

Costa Teguise Golf: On an island noted for its volcanic past, Costa Teguise Golf brings a splash of lush greenness to the surrounding rugged, desert landscape. Beyond the course the island's fiery origins are clear see, with impressive views onto several volcano peaks, as well as down to the Atlantic Ocean.

Running alongside an old volcano, the greenness of the golf holes contrasts with the inspiring landscape of volcanic lava and cacti, through which the layout weaves. The lushness of the fairways is enhanced with many small palm trees lining the holes.

Costa Teguise is Lanzarote's only 18-hole golf course, and is designed to be both challenging and varied - a good test for players of all abilities. Its numerous doglegging holes will require good shot-making, bringing all your clubs into play, as you try to stay out of the black sand bunkers and hit the not overly large greens.

Did you know?

Lanzarote is the easternmost and fourth largest of the Spanish Canary Islands, located just 125 km off the coast of Africa and 1,000 km from the Iberian Peninsula.

The island, created after the breakup of the African and the American continental plates, was born out of fiery volcanic eruptions and is home to many solidified lava streams as well as extravagant rock formations. The largest recorded eruptions occurred between 1730 and 1736.

For overall comfort, service and five-star luxury the Gran Melia is still hard to beat. Set right on the beach in Costa Teguise the Gran Melia is part of the cultural heritage of the island. By modern standards the rooms are a little on the small side but they enjoy great views and the public areas more than make up for any shortcomings.
