Original layout by Tom Dunn (at the time Dunn was the Professional at nearby Meyrick Park GC). Dunn's layout was redesigned by Harry Colt (1914). Colt's new holes (from 5 to 16) transformed the course from a predominantly parkland layout into an entirely heathland course.

From Poole (head north) or from Wimborne (head south) on the A349. At roundabout (indicating Broadstone GC), turn off the A349 into Dunyeats Rd. After 1 mile at roundabout, go all the way round and re-enter Dunyeats Road, and then immediately turn left into Station Approach. Follow Station Approach, which becomes Wentworth Drive to Golf Club.

Broadstone Golf Club: The Bournemouth area is blessed with some of the finest golf courses in the south of England. The likes of Broadstone, Ferndown and Parkstone are all close at hand. Each of these three gems is heathland in character, rather than seaside links. Although dunes and long fescue grasses are not in evidence on these inland courses, the abundance of heather and rolling undulations ensures each course lays down a scenic and thoroughly enjoyable challenge.
Broadstone is an expansive and relatively undulating layout, which roams across a large area of stunning heathland. From several wonderfully elevated tees, Broadstone's charms and challenges are clearly laid out before you. If you can, it's well worth avoiding the gorse bushes and wide swathes of heather that line the good-width fairways.
While the opening and closing sections have become a little more tree-lined over the years, it's the middle section of the course that steals the show. Here you can enjoy some gloriously natural and open heathland, as well as a succession of top quality golf holes and many panoramic views.
On this undulating sand-based terrain it is perhaps surprising there are so few blind or semi-blind shots to make. You can thank Harry Colt's excellent (re)design work for that. With a constant variety of holes in the layout and generally good greenkeeping throughout, Broadstone is one of the south of England's top courses. Definitely not one to be missed.

Ivor Bertie Guest, 1st Baron of Wimborne (1815–1914) an ironmaster and local landowner commissioned the building of a golf course here at Broadstone. In 1898 with 6 invited gentlemen present, Lord Wimborne held a meeting at Broadstone School to set out the rules and terms for the Golf Club. It was resolved that the Club would be called "The Dorset Golf Club" and the course be known as "The Broadstone Links." The Club later became Broadstone (Dorset) Golf Club, and then simply Broadstone Golf Club.
The Club was officially opened in 1898 with a foursome match between Arthur Balfour, First Lord of the Treasury (and later British Prime Minister) partnered by the Wimbledon professional J.H. Taylor and John Penn M.P. and James Braid the professional at Romford.

Here at Prince’s Golf Club you'll find 27 excellent holes of links golf. Just over the fence and sharing similar terrain is Royal St George’s; but Prince’s is far from overshadowed by its venerable neighbour.
