40 km N of Derry (Londonderry)
From Derry (Londonderry) take the A2 direction Newtown Cunningham / Letterkenny and then the R238 direction Burnfoot / Buncrana. From Buncrana (still on the R238) follow direction Drumfree / Cardonagh. After 8 km in Drumfree, follow the R238 direction Clonmany. After 8.4 km (at pink church) turn right direction Ballyliffin GC. After 4 km turn left into entrance to Ballyliffin GC.
Ballyliffin Golf Club (Glashedy Links): Far from the madding crowd in the most northerly part of Ireland (Inishowen), Ballyliffin is home to two superb championship golf courses, both set in a vast area of natural sand dunes.
The Glashedy Links takes its name from the Glashedy Rock that sits 2 km offshore. The longer and sterner test of the two layouts, the Glashedy is laid out amongst towering dunes with sea and mountain views from most holes.
As with many of the great courses played on linksland (land which provides the "link" between usable farmland and the seashore), the Glashedy is defined by crisp fairways, fabulous revetted bunkering and fast true greens. Deep rough lies in wait for wayward drives, not too easy to avoid when the wind is blowing, or when playing some of the layout's tighter and more undulating holes.
Without doubt one of the best examples of links golf in Ireland, and not as far off the beaten trail as a casual glance at the road map may have you think.
