In Ilkley town centre, turn off the A65 at All Saints Church/Daleway Hotel traffic lights, and head south on New Brook St, direction Middleton. After o.3 mi turn left into Denton Rd. After o.5 mi turn left into Nesfield Rd. Golf is o.3 mi on your right.
Ilkley Golf Club: If you are visiting the famous Yorkshire Dales or the renowned heathland golf courses just north of Leeds (e.g. Alwoodley, Sand Moor, Moortown and Moor Allerton), it's well worth making a detour to enjoy Ilkley's natural riverside setting and pleasantly testing layout. This excellent parkland golf course, where the young Colin Montgomerie honed his game, is located directly alongside the River Wharfe, within sight of Ilkley Moor.
Laid out on generally flat terrain, water most definitely poses a threat early in your round. The first seven holes, comprising three par-3s, two wonderful par-5s and two challenging par-4s, follow one after the other along the north bank of the river. On these opening holes anything played too far left may come to a watery end. Is this why Monty is a consummate fader rather than drawer of the golf ball?
Plenty of tree planting many years ago has produced holes with excellent definition, where straight hitting from the tee is needed to ensure you set up clear approach shots into the greens. The only real exception to the layout's flat terrain comes at the nicely elevated 16th tee.

Players generally walk this course. Permission to use single-seat golf carts (available from the Pro Shop) must be sought in advance from the Secretary.

Here at Prince’s Golf Club you'll find 27 excellent holes of links golf. Just over the fence and sharing similar terrain is Royal St George’s; but Prince’s is far from overshadowed by its venerable neighbour.
