Leave the M1 motorway at exit 13, just south of Milton Keynes. Follow the A4012 direction Woburn. In Woburn turn right to Woburn Sands; after o.6 miles turn left into Longslade Lane. Follow signs to golf for 1.5 miles.
Woburn (Duchess)
Woburn Golf Club (Duchess' course): Although a respectable 6,651 yards from the back tees, the Duchess' course is the shortest of Woburn's superb triumvirate of championship golf courses. The bigger tournaments and accolades are usually reserved for the Duke's and Marquess' courses, but for lovers of wooded parkland golf, the enchanting Duchess is not a course to overlook.
The Duchess' possesses many of the same undulating woodland qualities as its more renowned siblings, but is undeniably the tightest of the three. Here it is best to employ a game strategy based on accuracy and good course management, rather than attempting to over-power the course with big-hitting from the tee. The gently undulating tree-lined fairways offer more space than you might at first think, although it won't necessarily look that way on a first outing.
Charles Lawrie, who also designed the Duke's course, ensured the holes on the Duchess wend their way through majestic corridors of pines, arriving at mercurially sloping, but not overly large greens. The smallish putting surfaces are stylishly defended by plenty of neatly trimmed bunkers.
Often regarded as a junior sibling reposing in the shadows of the much heralded Duke's and Marquess' courses, don't for a moment think that the elegant Duchess' is a course lacking in looks or challenge - nothing could be further from the truth. Always beautifully presented, here you will find a golf course most definitely fit for a Duchess.

The grounds of the Woburn Estate always possessed the ingredients for the creation of a top-calibre golf venue. Located just 30 minutes from London's M25 orbital motorway, a large and natural expanse of undulating forest was complemented by fast-draining sandy soil, perfect for golf. In 1974, Robin Russell (the 14th Duke of Bedford), who was then Marquess of Tavistock, brought the dream to reality with the launch of a world-class golf facility at Woburn.
The Duchess course is named after the 14th Duke's wife Henrietta, Dowager Duchess of Bedford. Born Henrietta Joan Tiarks in 1940, she became the Marchioness of Tavistock and then Duchess of Bedford.

Scottie Scheffler: narrowly missed out on matching Nelly Korda’s three-in-three, when he placed second at the Houston Open. This followed back-to-back wins at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players. Like Korda, he remains comfortably ahead in the official world golf rankings.

Here at Prince’s Golf Club you'll find 27 excellent holes of links golf. Just over the fence and sharing similar terrain is Royal St George’s; but Prince’s is far from overshadowed by its venerable neighbour. The three nine-hole loops at Prince's, laid out over gently undulating terrain, are sure to bring a smile of satisfaction to all lovers of links golf.
