Gleneagles Hotel (King's Course)

5-star: Fabulous – courses don’t get much better than this.

Est. 1919

Gleneagles Hotel (King's Course): Although the PGA Centenary course is now Gleneagles' preferred layout for top flight professional tournaments (including the 2014 Ryder Cup), the estate's King's course is still the undisputed King of the Perthshire hills. The time-honoured King's is a delight to play and lays down a worthy challenge for golfers of all abilities.

Braid’s magnificent layout has endured the test of time. It meanders across the undulating moorland and parkland terrain, with one memorable hole following another. There are some short par-4s to take advantage of, provided your tee-shots are accurately hit. There are also one or two "fiddly" holes to contend with, but a little local knowledge will sort out your strategy on these.

Essentially, the King's is a course that appeals as much to the heart as the golfing brain. With glorious views onto the surrounding Perthshire hills and straths (valleys), here you'll find inland Scottish golf at its very best.
