La Cala Resort (Asia course)

3-star: Good course – an enjoyable test for your game.

Est. 1990

La Cala Resort (Asia course): La Cala's Campo Asia layout (formerly known as the South course) is even hillier, the fairways tighter and the bushes more impenetrable than on the neighbouring Campo America course, which is difficult enough. After a straight-jacketing front-nine, relieved only by splendid views across to Mijas and high sierras in the distance, the back-nine provides no let-up, but it does have some wonderful holes.

Stars of the show are the closing trio - a needle like par-5 16th, the tricky, well-bunkered par-3 17th and the short par-4 18th. Only after two or three rounds here will you start to work out how best to play this undulating, tight and demanding course. As with the other two 18-hole courses at La Cala, green-keeping is generally very good.
