Gleneagles Hotel (Queen's course)

4-star: Above average course - well worth a visit.

Est. 1919

Gleneagles Hotel (Queen's Course): Although overshadowed by the better known King’s course, the character of the Queen’s is very much in the spirit of its royal neighbour, and well worth playing. The views over the Perthshire hills are just as captivating and the course itself another parkland/moorland gem designed by James Braid.

The Queen's threads its way through high ridges on the north and west sides of the Gleneagles estate. Here you'll find a mix of lovely woodland settings and more open moorland stretches. There are many excellent and testing holes set out over the wonderfully rolling terrain, with lochans (ponds) and ditches as water hazards.

Stay&Play at Gleneagles: luxury onsite accommodation available, see Where2Stay section below.

Did you know?

The original trio of courses at Gleneagles included the current King's and Queen's layouts as well as the short, tight and testing Prince's course. The Prince's predominantly comprised par-3 holes, and provided an excellent warm-up course prior to taking on the more senior regal pair. The Prince's course no longer exists, having made way for the Jack Nicklaus-designed PGA Centenary course in the early 1990s.

Published ranking

Queen's course:
Scotland's 21st best course (Golf World, 2022).
Britain & Ireland's 64th best course (Golf World, 2022).

The Masters: The 88th Masters Tournament at Augusta National sees LIV golfer Jon Rahm defend his title against the world’s best. Pressing hard will be world No.1 and 2022 champion Scottie Scheffler and world No.2 Rory McIlroy (April 11-14).

Chevron Championship: the women’s major championship season gets underway for the second year at its new Carlton Woods home outside Houston, Texas. World No.2 Lilia Vu defends (April 18-21).

Who's Who

Nelly Korda: records a perfect start to 2024 with four wins out of her last four appearances on the LPGA Tour, a feat last achieved by Lorena Ochoa in 2008. Korda's win at the T-Mobile Match Play brought up her 12th LPGA Tour victory.

Scottie Scheffler: narrowly missed out on matching Nelly Korda’s three-in-three, when he placed second at the Houston Open. This followed back-to-back wins at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players. Like Korda, he remains comfortably ahead in the official world golf rankings.

Marco Simone Golf & Country Club

Marco Simone Golf & Country Club: With a clubhouse that might befit a Roman Emperor, and a golf course to match, you can be sure of a memorable outing at Rome's most talked about golf facility.

Jim Fazio's original layout was much changed to create a modern Ryder Cup course ... now one of the Eternal City's (and Italy's) most revered.

Prince's Golf Club, Kent (UK)
