Leave the M1 motorway at exit 27. Follow the A608 direction Mansfield. After 1.3 miles turn left onto the A611 direction Mansfield. After 1.7 miles golf club is on your right.
Notts (Hollinwell)
Notts Golf Club is one of England's true heathland gems. More commonly known as Hollinwell, after a nearby holy well, the course makes good use of its proximity to the once expansive Sherwood Forest (of Robin Hood fame). The forest ensures a tree-lined perimeter to much of the course and several tree-lined holes. But Hollinwell is also characterised by stretches of gloriously open heathland through which many of the holes weave their way.
Laid out in a wonderfully natural setting, without any intrusion from roads or housing, the pleasantly undulating layout offers picturesque views over neighbouring countryside and woodland. Each individually crafted hole makes excellent use of the mix of open heathland and woodland habitat. Pine and birch, heather and gorse, and excellent bunkering all come into play at various times, and frequently all are present on the same to hole.
Accuracy from the tee is often required, especially at holes like the par-4 11th, which calls for an unnervingly precise drive. Also of note is the long plunging excellently bunkered par-3 13th, the final par-3 and definitely the best. For low handicappers there are some intimidating back tees that (with the Club's permission) really are well worth playing from, not least at the par-5 6th, par-4 8th and par-3 13th holes.
Visitors welcome Mon-Thurs, Fri (pm) and Sun (pm). No visitors on Saturday.

Formed in November 1897, Notts Golf Club moved to its current location in 1900. Willie Park Jnr was commissioned to inspect the land and lay out an 18 hole golf course, which opened for play in 1901. The name Hollinwell was adopted in December 1900, the name being taken from a natural spring (holy well) on the course from which members could (and still do) take refreshment.
Notts became a venue for top level national golf tournaments, hosting the English Amateur Championship and Brabazon Trophy (English Amateur Strokeplay Championship) on several occasions. It has also hosted major professional events. When the John Player Classic was held here in 1970, the prize money on offer was the largest in the world at that time. Notts Ladies GC (established in 1891) shares the course with Notts Golf Club, and provides a warm welcome to visiting women players.

Scottie Scheffler: narrowly missed out on matching Nelly Korda’s three-in-three, when he placed second at the Houston Open. This followed back-to-back wins at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players. Like Korda, he remains comfortably ahead in the official world golf rankings.
