Golfclub Cromstrijen

3-star: Good course – an enjoyable test for your game.

Est. 1989

Golfclub Cromstrijen: Located in the province of Zuid-Holland, where the mighty River Maas (Rhine) flows into the North Sea, Cromstrijen is a layout dating from 1989, and one that exudes a modern parkland feel.

The environment here is relatively flat, although gentle earth mounding confers some good definition and contouring to the holes. The principal hazard on this relatively compact layout is water in the form of ponds and ditches.

Added to the perils of water, a significant amount of fairway and greenside bunkering also threatens on many holes. If you are locked in a closely fought match play or just trying to finish off a good scoring round, take great care at the excellent par-5 18th, a "sting-in-the-tail" hole that combines trees, sand and water hazards to excellent effect.

A modern wind turbine, rather than a quaint old Dutch windmill, stands alongside the course, though not too intrusively. The proximity of the A29 motorway impacts the noise level on a few of the holes.
