Chateau de Taulane

4-PLUS: Must play course - excellent standard; worthy of 4½ stars.

Est. 1992

Château de Taulane: The impressive 18th century Château de Taulane (now home to the resort's luxury onsite hotel) sits at the heart of one of the best Stay&Play venues in the south of France. Around the Château is Gary Player's excellently crafted golf course, itself surrounded by a natural pine forest. Providing an added scenic dimension, mountains climb to a thousand metres and more behind the resort.

Within this scenic and natural environment, your golf game can be applied to the "Black Knight's" handsomely crafted and predominantly tree-lined layout. Never too penal, nor too forgiving, low handicappers will need to work for their pars and birdies, while higher handicappers are given sufficient space to hit with confidence from the tee.

Water makes a telling appearance on a few holes, not least in front of the large double green, shared by the 9th and 18th holes. The wonderful Château provides an imposing backdrop to both these holes.

Located less than an hours' drive northwest from Grasse, the golf course at Taulane has all the hallmarks of a great quality design, supported by excellent maintenance standards. Combined with the splendid Château, Taulane offers all the ingredients for a wonderful Stay&Play golf experience.

Did you know?

The wonderful Château de Taulane lay in derelict ruins until the early-1990s, when it was magnificently transformed into a spectacular Stay&Play venue for golfers and non-golfers alike.

The original house was built in 1750 for Louis-Auguste Lyle, Marquis of Taulane, who came from a Scottish family that was established in Provence. He retired from the French navy in 1777 as a much decorated naval squadron leader.
