Falcon's Fire Golf Club

4-star: Above average course - well worth a visit.

Est. 1993

Falcon's Fire Golf Club: Located just a stone's throw from the attractions of Walt Disney World, Falcon's Fire is another in Orlando's impressive array of excellent quality golf courses. Here, an abundance of glistening white-sand bunkers, stand out against well-groomed, rolling fairways and swathes of lush green semi-rough. Seriously penal, deep rough is not something you'll need to worry about at Falcon's Fire.

The front-nine should allow the nerves to settle and confidence to build, with much less water in play than on the back-nine, and relatively forgiving terrain as a landing area for those errant tee-shots.

The Falcon's fiery character heats-up on the back-nine, and especially the stretch of holes from the seriously pot-bunkered par-4 13th to the par-4 17th; throughout this stretch water is seriously in play. On the challenging par-4 16th you'll need to drive onto a tightish fairway, flanked by water on both sides.

With two busy roads skirting parts of the course, there is some traffic noise, but this is not overly distracting, especially once the quality and challenges of this very absorbing layout start to command your full attention. Falcon's Fire is a high quality facility with many great features, not least the picturesque Spanish-style, terracotta-tiled clubhouse.

Tournaments

The Masters: The 88th Masters Tournament at Augusta National sees LIV golfer Jon Rahm defend his title against the world’s best. Pressing hard will be world No.1 and 2022 champion Scottie Scheffler and world No.2 Rory McIlroy (April 11-14).

Chevron Championship: the women’s major championship season gets underway for the second year at its new Carlton Woods home outside Houston, Texas. World No.2 Lilia Vu defends (April 18-21).

Who's Who

Nelly Korda: records a perfect start to 2024 with four wins out of her last four appearances on the LPGA Tour, a feat last achieved by Lorena Ochoa in 2008. Korda's win at the T-Mobile Match Play brought up her 12th LPGA Tour victory.

Scottie Scheffler: narrowly missed out on matching Nelly Korda’s three-in-three, when he placed second at the Houston Open. This followed back-to-back wins at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players. Like Korda, he remains comfortably ahead in the official world golf rankings.

Marco Simone Golf & Country Club

Marco Simone Golf & Country Club: With a clubhouse that might befit a Roman Emperor, and a golf course to match, you can be sure of a memorable outing at Rome's most talked about golf facility.

Jim Fazio's original layout was much changed to create a modern Ryder Cup course ... now one of the Eternal City's (and Italy's) most revered.
