Est. 1984

Grand Cypress Golf Club (North, South, East course): CLOSED IN 2019 for a major redesign; to re-open in 2020/21 as a new Jack Nicklaus designed 18-hole layout.

[Original Where2Golf description]: Orlando's impressive Grand Cypress Resort, located next door to Walt Disney World, boasts 45 holes of Jack Nicklaus Signature golf. The original North and South nines, dating from 1984, were given a major overhaul by Nicklaus in 2007/08. Together with the East-nine, this interchangeable set of three nine-hole loops form what is referred to as the North, South, East course. In 1988 Grand Cypress added its 18-hole, Scottish-styled New course.

The North, South, East provides a testing and classically Floridian golfing challenge. Some stretches on this well-groomed layout are quite open, others more tree-lined, while an array of small lakes and ponds ensure that several holes are accompanied by a distinctly watery threat.

The skilfully crafted layout contains Nicklaus's trademark variety of bunkering. Sand traps large and small adorn and defend the excellent collection of doglegging and straightaway designs.

On the North and South courses, the well bunkered par-3 8th holes are played to a shared green, while the testing par-4 9th holes are played on either side of the same small lake, once again bringing you to a large, undulating double green. Although not dramatically different, each of the three nines has its own character and challenges, with many players regarding the East-nine as the prettiest, but tightest course. In keeping with the top-quality facilities at Grand Cypress the clubhouse provides a very comfortable venue from which to conduct your post-round review.

Tournaments

The Masters: The 88th Masters Tournament at Augusta National sees LIV golfer Jon Rahm defend his title against the world’s best. Pressing hard will be world No.1 and 2022 champion Scottie Scheffler and world No.2 Rory McIlroy (April 11-14).

Chevron Championship: the women’s major championship season gets underway for the second year at its new Carlton Woods home outside Houston, Texas. World No.2 Lilia Vu defends (April 18-21).

Who's Who

Nelly Korda: records a perfect start to 2024 with four wins out of her last four appearances on the LPGA Tour, a feat last achieved by Lorena Ochoa in 2008. Korda's win at the T-Mobile Match Play brought up her 12th LPGA Tour victory.

Scottie Scheffler: narrowly missed out on matching Nelly Korda’s three-in-three, when he placed second at the Houston Open. This followed back-to-back wins at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players. Like Korda, he remains comfortably ahead in the official world golf rankings.

Marco Simone Golf & Country Club

Marco Simone Golf & Country Club: With a clubhouse that might befit a Roman Emperor, and a golf course to match, you can be sure of a memorable outing at Rome's most talked about golf facility.

Jim Fazio's original layout was much changed to create a modern Ryder Cup course ... now one of the Eternal City's (and Italy's) most revered.
