Palmetto Hall (Arthur Hills)
Palmetto Hall Plantation (Arthur Hills course): located just northwest of Hilton Head island Airport, Palmetta Hall is one of Hilton Head's best known golfing venues. It offers two 18-hole championship layouts, in the guise of the Arthur Hills and Robert Cupp courses.
Laid out in a predominantly woodland environment, any housing alongside the course is generally set well back and not at all intrusive. The mainly tree-lined fairways are tight enough to require accuracy from both the tee and with several of the approach shots. Arthur Hills rarely does "easy".
The course abounds with natural features, providing a good mix of strong golf holes, some with water hazards, some without, some excellent dog-legs and all-round good quality maintenance. The greens are well-sized and usually quite fast.
Pick of the holes: the tough, water-lined par-4 18th, provides the course's signature hole and a great place to finish a close match play. Definitely one of Hilton Head's must-play venues.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.

The Masters: The 88th Masters Tournament at Augusta National sees LIV golfer Jon Rahm defend his title against the world’s best. Pressing hard will be world No.1 and 2022 champion Scottie Scheffler and world No.2 Rory McIlroy (April 11-14).
Chevron Championship: the women’s major championship season gets underway for the second year at its new Carlton Woods home outside Houston, Texas. World No.2 Lilia Vu defends (April 18-21).
Nelly Korda: records a perfect start to 2024 with four wins out of her last four appearances on the LPGA Tour, a feat last achieved by Lorena Ochoa in 2008. Korda's win at the T-Mobile Match Play brought up her 12th LPGA Tour victory.
Scottie Scheffler: narrowly missed out on matching Nelly Korda’s three-in-three, when he placed second at the Houston Open. This followed back-to-back wins at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players. Like Korda, he remains comfortably ahead in the official world golf rankings.
