Port Fairy Golf Links

4-star: Above average course - well worth a visit.

Est. 1899

Port Fairy Golf Links: Although the layout at Port Fairy might exude a slightly rustic feel at times, it has everything you'd expect from a really enjoyable seaside golf links. Located in a wonderfully natural area of coastal duneland, the well crafted holes occupy a classically open and scenic position close to the ocean's shoreline.

The layout is challenging and well-crafted from start to finish, with deep rough and rustic bunkering to be avoided as you tee-off towards generally good-width, open, rolling fairways. An early "sampler" of Port Fairy's ocean vistas comes at the short par-4 3rd, with the back-nine providing many memorable views out onto the Southern Ocean. Also adding to the pleasures of a round at this scenic course, are inland views over Belfast Lough and the surrounding rural Victoria countryside.

If you are travelling west from Melbourne, perhaps doing the Great Ocean Road or visiting the Twelve Apostles, don't miss out on the chance to play Port Fairy. All golfers, not least links enthusiasts, will delight at the touch of golfing fairy dust offered by this venerable and much revered coastal gem.

Pick of the holes: of special note is the majestic, though bunkerless par-5 12th, as scenic a seaside golf hole as you'll find in Australia, the dunes and ocean views ever-present as the hole runs parallel to the ocean.
