After 2.7 km turn right onto Hwy 11 and stay on it for 56 km (Mornington Peninsula Fwy > Frankston Fwy > Moorooduc Hwy > Mornington Peninsula Fwy). At end of Freeway (Rte 11) turn right into Boneo Road. After 1.9 km turn left onto Point Nepean Road (and follow the beach). After approx 12 km, in Sorrento, continue to follow the Nepean Point Rd, direction Portsea. Portsea is located 4 km after Sorrento.

Portsea Golf Club

4-star: Above average course - well worth a visit.

Est. 1926

Portsea Golf Club: Mainly cut out of the coastal forest of small, knarled, wind-blown trees that cover this end of the Mornington Peninsula, golf at Portsea enjoys a very linksy feel. This predominantly open and expansive course, with its good-width fairways and grassy-topped bunkers, is laid out over impressively rolling, sandy terrain.

Most holes at Portsea are played either up or downhill, something your legs are likely to register by the end of the round. From the highest elevations you may get a glimpse of Port Phillip Bay, but extensive sea views are not the key feature of Portsea.

The fast greens with their steep run-offs, and plenty of small trees and bushes, seem to combine to "punish" what you might otherwise think are good shots.

Local knowledge here certainly plays its part. In particular, beware the short par-4s. With names like Little Devil, they need to be carefully assessed and treated with due respect. When the wind blows, as is often the case here, the course will fully test your game - and then some!
