Amstel Golf Club (Ranfurlie course)

4-star: Above average course - well worth a visit.

Est. 2002

Ranfurlie Golf Club (formerly the Ranfurlie course of Amstel GC): Ranfurlie is very different from the classic parkland layouts of Melbourne's sandbelt. Here you can experience an inland links style course, with very few trees, but plenty of deep grassy rough and excellent shaggy-topped bunkers defining the good-width fairways.

The layout's elevation changes ensure each hole has its own character, and from the highest part of the course, near the clubhouse, there are terrific views all the way through to distant Melbourne city centre.

The course fits well into its surrounding rural environment, and has become a popular and established golfing alternative from the usual tree-lined, parkland courses hereabouts.

Did you know?

Ranfurlie Golf Club started out in 2002 as the second and newer course of the Amstel Golf Club, which was home to the older Park course. Amstel's tree-lined Park course opened for member-only play in 1965, later becoming a public-access facility in 2002. It closed for play in 2016 and was developed for housing. The newer Ranfurlie course opened in 2002.

Having already hosted a number of significant events including the Australian PGA Tour Qualifying School in 2002 and 2003, and the Victoria Golf Association Division 1 Pennant Final in 2003, Ranfurlie has already forged a strong reputation as a challenging championship course.
