Sorrento Golf Club

4-star: Above average course - well worth a visit.

Est. 1907

Sorrento Golf Club: Although a little on the short side, Sorrento is a delightful gem of a course, more parkland than links, played over wonderfully undulating terrain. The layout zig-zags its way out to the par-4 8th hole, then turns and zig-zags its way back again to the clubhouse.

Throughout, the conditioning is immaculate. Some holes are quite garden-like in character, enhanced by a wonderful variety of flora, with a few natural lakes dotted around. Water however is rarely in play.

The couch-grass fairways are quite soft and springy, leading you to excellent and not too heavily bunkered greens. Although sea views are missing, the views from the course are embellished by the pleasant hillside properties of some of Sorrento's wealthier residents.

The peaceful environment and friendly reception you'll get at Sorrento, marks this out as a rather special course among Melbourne's seemingly endless array of golfing treasures.
