Malone Golf Club

4-star: Above average course - well worth a visit.

Est. 1895

Malone Golf Club is home to another of Belfast's very handsome, undulating parkland layouts, where Fred Hawtree's excellent design combines with the natural woodland beauty of the Ballydrain estate. The Drumbridge and Ballydrain nines are the primary combination, with the equally good Edenderry-nine making up the 27 holes of Malone.

All manner of trees are dotted along the top quality fairways (but never too densely), with some mighty oak, chestnut and beech trees particularly prominent. Solid bunkering also features along the fairways and around the excellent greens.

A large lake comes into play on the Ballydrain-nine, most noticeably at the wonderful short par-3 15th. Clearly a top quality parkland golf course that's part of Belfast's elite, ranking closely alongside Royal Belfast and Belvoir Park.
