Crow Creek Golf Club

3-PLUS: Good course - several memorable features; worthy of 3½ stars.

Est. 2000

Crow Creek Golf Club: This well maintained 18-hole layout, located a couple of miles from the North-South Carolina border, is a firm favourite with local and visiting golfers alike. It offers something a bit more forgiving than many of the tougher, more wooded and undulating Grand Strand layouts.

The front and back-nine loops, arranged on either side of Hickman Road, comprise relatively open and flat terrain. Generally good-width fairways invite free use of the big timber from the tee. Excellent quality, though quite shallow bunkering, as well as sandy waste areas are plentiful, and water hazards also make frequent appearances alongside the fairways, and protecting several greens.

The par-3 8th is one of many attractive holes, made even more so with a picturesque cabin sitting alongside a fishing pond; the pond must be carried from tee-to-green. Some contrasting elements on the back-nine include a few condominiums and houses flanking one or two fairways, while on the closing stretch the holes enter a slightly more wooded environment.

Did you know?

The cabin at the par-3 8th hole, was actually a retreat, where the owner of the original farm could relax, fish and enjoy a few beverages with his friends, away from the main farm buildings. It is said that he originally stocked the pond with 5,000 fish.
