Royal Ratchaburi Golf Club

4-star: Above average course - well worth a visit.

Est. 1988

Royal Ratchaburi Golf Club is home to a course that commands a good reputation with local golfers. Located a few kilometres off Highway 4 heading south towards Cha-Am and Hua Hin, this undulating layout is set in pleasant countryside and contains many well-crafted and testing holes.

Water and often expansive bunkering could potentially play a significant part in proceedings, at least in terms of weighing up your options from the tee. The undulating greens and rolling fairways mirror the slopes of the jungle-clad Ratchaburi mountains away to the west.

Did you know?

The small city of Ratchaburi lies about 100 km west of Bangkok. Like many cities in central Thailand it has been inhabited for at least 14 centuries. The city sits on the banks of the Mae Klong River with links into the central Thailand canal system.

There are a several places of religious interest in the area, such as the Khao Wang hill-monastery, formerly a palace of Rama V, and the monkey-infested hermit cave, which contains a very old, gilded stone Buddha - 20 metres tall. (Beware of the monkeys, who will steal the contents of your bags given half a chance).

The town is also known for its “dragon jars”, large brown ceramic pots with dragons emblazoned around the outside, and a feature of many Thai gardens. It’s possible to visit the factory to see the jars being made, but getting one of these pots home on the plane is a greater challenge.
