Did you know?

Bingley St Ives Golf Club is situated within the St Ives Estate the historic home of the Ferrand family. The club was formed in 1931 as a municipal club under the auspices of Bingley Urban District Council. Initially it was a nine-hole layout which was expanded to 18 holes in 1934. Dr Alister MacKenzie, one of the acknowledged greats of golf course design, was among those involved in the early lay-out. In the 1980's the course was the venue for the Lawrence Batley International a full European Tour event (see our Encyclopaedia of Golf >Tournaments >by Venue >Bingley St Ives).

In 1990 the club was privatised and plans for a new clubhouse were quickly developed. The clubhouse was completed in 1994 and its design reflects the character of the St Ives estate buildings, borrowing the style of the pillars of the mansion and the arches of the surrounding buildings.
