Fraserburgh
Fraserburgh Golf Club: Located on the most north-easterly tip of Aberdeenshire, "Corbiehill links" as it is often known, is one of Scotland's (and therefore the world's) oldest golf courses. Given its antiquity, it is not surprising to discover that this is a full-blooded, seaside golf links in the true Scottish tradition. Rolling sand dunes, deep grassy rough, revetted bunkers and not a tree in sight, characterise this classic links layout.
The design skills of the much revered James Braid shaped much of the current layout, which keeps you sheltered (relatively speaking) behind a solid line of sand dunes that separate the course from the sea. When the North Sea winds and waves really bear their teeth, you'll be more than thankful for the modicum of protection afforded by these dunes that line Fraserburgh Bay.
The 18-hole championship layout, which is built around Corbie Hill, is complemented by a shorter and more parkland course, the nine-hole Rosehill course.

Two things are known with certainty about Fraserburgh golf links. First, and noted in the parish records, golf was definitely being played here as far back as the year 1613. Secondly, that Fraserburgh Golf Club was founded on 14th April 1777 and that the membership consisted of nineteen of the most prominent "landed gentry" in the north-east of Scotland.
According to the British Golf Museum in St Andrews, Fraserburgh is the fifth oldest club in Scotland and the seventh oldest in the world. Fraserburgh would also appear to be the oldest golf club in the world still operating under its original name.
The earliest members played on a 9-hole course on the "public commonty" (Fraserburgh Links) but due to congestion, danger to the public and constant interruption the Club, thanks to the generosity of the then Lord Saltoun, moved approximately half a mile south to its present location at Philorth Links in 1891. The course was redesigned in 1922 by the five times Open Champion James Braid and much of his design remains to this day.

The Masters: The 88th Masters Tournament at Augusta National sees LIV golfer Jon Rahm defend his title against the world’s best. Pressing hard will be world No.1 and 2022 champion Scottie Scheffler and world No.2 Rory McIlroy (April 11-14).
Chevron Championship: the women’s major championship season gets underway for the second year at its new Carlton Woods home outside Houston, Texas. World No.2 Lilia Vu defends (April 18-21).
Nelly Korda: records a perfect start to 2024 with four wins out of her last four appearances on the LPGA Tour, a feat last achieved by Lorena Ochoa in 2008. Korda's win at the T-Mobile Match Play brought up her 12th LPGA Tour victory.
Scottie Scheffler: narrowly missed out on matching Nelly Korda’s three-in-three, when he placed second at the Houston Open. This followed back-to-back wins at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players. Like Korda, he remains comfortably ahead in the official world golf rankings.
