Heading north on Hwy 1 (Cabrillo Highway) just east of Monterey, take exit 401A (Aguajito Road) and cross straight over Aguajito Rd into Mark Thomas Road. After 1 mile (passing Hyatt Regency hotel), turn right into Josselyn Canyon Road. After 50 yards turn right into Sylvan Road and Golf Club.
Del Monte
Del Monte Golf Course: Very much part of Californian golfing legend, Del Monte is a member of the impressive stable of courses owned and operated by Pebble Beach Resorts. Its stablemates include Pebble Beach Golf Links, Spyglass Hill and Spanish Bay. Compared to its peers, which lie to the west on the ocean-facing shoreline of the Monterey Peninsula, Del Monte poses a less demanding and less scenic golfing challenge.
This easier-going and shorter layout, is still based on its original out-and-back design. The classical parkland terrain is relatively flat, with some modest elevation changes as you approach the farthest end of the course. Here the picturesque forested hills of Jack's Peak rise up in the background.
Although relatively open, a fine array of mature trees are scattered along the well maintained fairways. The par-5 13th springs a surprise, with a good length carry required over a small tree-filled ravine, while other trees help to narrow things down around the tee-box.
The fairway bunkering throughout is reasonably light, but sand traps pose a more distinct threat around the generally small greens. The final holes of this pleasant parkland course are played in front of the Hyatt Regency hotel, the 17th green located just a few feet away from the hotel terrace.

When the Hotel Del Monte opened in 1880 near Monterey, it was regarded as one of the grandest hotels ever built. In the 1890s, the game of golf came to California and the Hotel Del Monte wanted to provide a course for its visitors. The hotel's own land was occupied by a racetrack, so the nine-hole Del Monte Golf Course was constructed offsite, on land leased from David Jacks. The course played today is still located near the foot of Jacks Peak.
Only two of California's earliest golf courses (pre-1900) remain in operation: Del Monte and the Presidio in San Francisco (which was built in 1896, five months earlier than Del Monte). Because the Presidio course was temporarily converted into a drill field during the Spanish-American War, Del Monte holds the distinction of being the oldest golf course in continuous operation west of the Mississippi River. (Catalina Island GC also vies for this title, but was only built as a three-hole course in 1892. It expanded to 9 holes in the early 1900s, and 18 in 1929).
Many top level tournaments have been hosted here, especially in the course's early days.

Chevron Championship: the women’s major championship season gets underway for the second year at its new Carlton Woods home outside Houston, Texas. World No.2 Lilia Vu defends (April 18-21).
Nelly Korda: records a perfect start to 2024 with five wins out of her last five starts on the LPGA Tour. Winning the Chevron Championship also brought the second major championship win of her career.
Scottie Scheffler: narrowly missed out on matching Nelly Korda's five wins in five starts, when he placed second at the Houston Open. Either side of that, he won The Arnold Palmer, The Players, and then The Masters and The Heritage.

Jim Fazio's original layout was much changed to create a modern Ryder Cup course ... now one of the Eternal City's (and Italy's) most revered.
Here at Prince’s Golf Club you'll find 27 excellent holes of links golf. Just over the fence and sharing similar terrain is Royal St George’s; but Prince’s is far from overshadowed by its venerable neighbour. The three nine-hole loops at Prince's, laid out over gently undulating terrain, are sure to bring a smile of satisfaction to all lovers of links golf.
