Bro Hof Slott Golf Club (Stadium course)

5-star: Fabulous – courses don’t get much better than this.

Est. 2007

Bro Hof Slott Golf Club (Stadium course): This prestigious golf facility located just outside Stockholm, is home to two excellent big dimension championship courses. Both designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr, the highly-acclaimed Stadium course opened in 2007, to be joined three years later by the Castle course.

At 7,357 metres (8,045 yards) Bro Hof Slott's Stadium Course is the longest top-quality golf course in Europe (in fact worldwide there's only a handful of 8,000+ yard courses). Suffice to say the black tees (with a course rating of 82.1) are reserved for top-level professional competitions; mere mortals should choose their tees somewhere well in front of the tips.

With long holes, large greens, considerable water hazards, and large well-placed bunkers the Stadium course lays down quite a challenge. If the wind is gusting off Lake Mälaren and across this quite open and exposed layout, the challenge may feel more like a severe examination than a "good walk spoiled".

Lake Mälaren itself is much in play during the round, but so too is a collection of large ponds and a meandering stream, ensuring most holes combine hazards of sand and water. Some holes are tightly wrapped around the ponds, others require a drive across a corner of the lake, while the par-3 17th features a small island green. With anything from a wedge to a 4-iron in your hand, and no bunkers or bail-out areas, it's a case of hit the green or get wet! Now regarded as Sweden's No.1 course, this is definitely a layout to challenge your nerve and all-round game.

Did you know?

The baroque-style castle at Bro Hof Slott was built in 1888 on an estate that dates back to the late middle-ages, when it was known as Brogård. After predominantly agricultural usage, and many highs and lows in the estate's fortunes, Bro Hof Slott was bought in 2002 by Swedish businessman and passionate golfer Björn Örås. From 2004 the estate underwent its huge transformation into a now world renowned luxury golf resort.

Since 2010, the Stadium course at Bro Hof Slott has played host to the European Tour's Scandinavian Masters on several occasions (see our Tournaments section >by Venue >Bro Hof Slott).
