Reynolds Lake Oconee (The Preserve course)

4-star: Above average course - well worth a visit.

Est. 1988

Reynolds Lake Oconee (The Preserve course): the Preserve (formerly known as the Plantation course) is a well-rated "senior" member of the Reynolds stable of excellent courses. It is the second, by age, of the six courses here. The Preserve takes advantage of the natural, rolling topography with the end result being an enjoyably playable course.

The back tees are challenging enough for low handicappers and forward tees forgiving enough for beginners. The layout reopened in 2016 after being renovated by original designer Bob Cupp. Although not getting lakeside quite as much as some of its siblings, several threatening greenside ponds enure water is never too far out of the reckoning.

Spread around the extensive lakeside and residential development of Reynolds Lake Oconee are 117-holes of golf, contained in five public-access courses and the members-only Creek Club course.

The Reynolds Lake Oconee courses have been designed and crafted by a veritable Who's Who of great course architects, including: Jack Nicklaus (Great Waters), Bob Cupp (The Landing and The Preserve), Tom Fazio (27-hole The National course), Rees Jones (The Oconee), and Jim Engh (The Creek Club).

Did you know?

Recognised for its natural beauty and riverside forests, the Oconee River has provided a family retreat for over 100 years. Many families quickly decided to "linger longer," turning one-or-two day visits into three-four-or five day family retreats.

By 1982, the river had become Lake Oconee, and Reynolds Plantation, now known as Reynolds Lake Oconee, was founded. It has evolved into a globally recognised resort, community and club, with six golf courses, nine dining venues, four full-service marinas, swimming pools, 21 miles of walking and biking trails, a world class fitness and tennis club, and The Ritz-Carlton Hotel at its centre.
