Wade Hampton Golf Club

Private: A course for members and their invited guests only.

Est. 1987

Wade Hampton Golf Club is home to a championship course that ranks with some of the best in the United States. Scenically located in a forested setting just outside the town of Cashiers in western North Carolina, here you'll find a wonderfully natural Tom Fazio layout.

The course is played in the shadow of impressive tree-clad hills and rocky bluffs, giving a Blue Ridge Mountain feel and backdrop to many holes. Pine trees of every imaginable size line the generally good-width fairways, with meandering creeks and small ponds also in the mix.

Any housing beyond the course is opulent in size and very discreetly tucked away amongst the trees. As the top-rated "mountain" course in the state, Wade Hampton offers an outstanding array of excellently crafted and challenging holes.

Limited access: this private course is generally playable only by members and their invited guests.

The club is named after Wade Hampton III, a general who grew up in a wealthy planter family in South Carolina. He fought for the Confederate army ("the South") in the American Civil War (1861-65). In the years after the war he continued to fight the Confederate cause as a politician.

Cashiers and the neighbouring towns of Highlands, Glenville, and Sapphire are part of a popular mountain vacation area at the south end of the Blue Ridge Mountains. In this same area you will find several other highly-rated "mountain" courses including Old Edwards (a Stay&Play facility) and the private Mountaintop Golf & Lake Club.
