Est. 1988

Blackwolf Run (Meadow Valleys Course): Located close to the Wisconsin city of Sheboygan, you will find four impressive Pete Dye designs, owned and run by the Kohler Company. Whistling Straits, with its two lakeside links courses, often steals the headlines. But a little way inland, close to the resort accommodations, is Blackwolf Run, home to the also impressive River and Meadow Valleys courses.

The Meadow Valleys course is reached from the clubhouse after a drive over the Sheboygan River and through a beautiful area of woodland. A surprise awaits as you emerge into an open, almost treeless links-style environment for the front-nine of Meadow Valleys. Here good-width tumbling fairways are flanked by fescued mounds and an array of bunkers large and small. Water also seriously enters the equation on the front-nine's closing trio.

After the open, linksy front-nine, the tight tree-lined par-4 10th comes as something of a shock to the system. It signals the start of a more eclectic mix of holes on the back-nine. Open links is still the case with some, but others are distinctly more tree-lined, undulating and down right challenging.

The short par-4 14th requires a pin-point accurate approach shot. Weedons Creek, an offshoot of the Sheboygan River, menacingly loops around the back and sides of the relatively narrow green. The drama continues at the par-3 15th, with a challenging tee-to-green carry required across a wetland ravine. The very attractive par-4 18th hugs the left bank of the Sheboygan River (the 18th on the companion River course plays down the right bank). Both these closing holes meet on the same double-green, which sits below Blackwolf Run's impressively huge log-cabin clubhouse.
