Colonial CC, Tex
Colonial Country Club, perhaps the best known name amongst Texan golf courses, is located alongside the Clear Fork of the Trinity River. Here you will find a course steeped in golfing history, PGA Tour events, and, back in 1941, a US Open Championship.
The excellent tree-lined parkland layout contains a wealth of wonderfully crafted, memorable and challenging holes. Several holes run alongside the Trinity River, which is tucked away behind a solid treeline.
A wealth of fairway and greenside bunkering stylishly add to the layout's aeasthetics, while posing the need for adept course management both from the tee and for those testing approach shots. In the mix are doglegging holes, where position off the tee is often more important than length.
Pick of the holes: the left-to-right doglegging par-4 5th is Colonial's most celebrated and, many would argue, its most challenging hole. Anything hit too far right off the tee may slither its way under the trees and into the awaiting Trinity River.
Limited access: this private course is generally playable only by members and their invited guests.

Marvin Leonard, businessman, visionary and original owner of Colonial CC, established the club in 1936 as the "Colonial Club". The name came from the architectural style of the clubhouse.
From 1946 onward, the course hosted the Colonial National Invitational, a top-flight PGA Tour event. The tournament honours the origins of golf in Scotland by presenting to each year's winner a red tartan jacket. The first two editions of this prestigious event were won by Fort Worth native, Ben Hogan, who went on to win the event a total of five times.

Chevron Championship: the women’s major championship season gets underway for the second year at its new Carlton Woods home outside Houston, Texas. World No.2 Lilia Vu defends (April 18-21).
Nelly Korda: records a perfect start to 2024 with four wins out of her last four appearances on the LPGA Tour, a feat last achieved by Lorena Ochoa in 2008. Korda's win at the T-Mobile Match Play brought up her 12th LPGA Tour victory.
Scottie Scheffler: narrowly missed out on matching Nelly Korda’s three-in-three, when he placed second at the Houston Open. This followed back-to-back wins at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players. Like Korda, he remains comfortably ahead in the official world golf rankings.
Marco Simone Golf & Country Club: With a clubhouse that might befit a Roman Emperor, and a golf course to match, you can be sure of a memorable outing at Rome's most talked about golf facility.
Jim Fazio's original layout was much changed to create a modern Ryder Cup course ... now one of the Eternal City's (and Italy's) most revered.
Here at Prince’s Golf Club you'll find 27 excellent holes of links golf. Just over the fence and sharing similar terrain is Royal St George’s; but Prince’s is far from overshadowed by its venerable neighbour. The three nine-hole loops at Prince's, laid out over gently undulating terrain, are sure to bring a smile of satisfaction to all lovers of links golf.
