Longniddry
Longniddry Golf Club: although set back from, and at times out of sight of the neighbouring Firth of Forth, the Longniddry layout combines an intriguing mix of holes. The majority are of an open linksy character, which include the opening and closing loops played closest to the clubhouse. Furthest from the clubhouse is a stretch from the par-4 5th to the par-4 10th, a run of holes of a distinctly more tree-lined persuasion.
Occupying gently rippling terrain, Longniddry is home to a Lothian gem that will test your course management and accurate shot-making in equal measure. Classic links pot bunkering and subtly sloping greens are here in abundance.
The distinctive stone-built clubhouse, perched on a small rise, looks down on several greens and tees that wander past it during the round. The clubhouse features many historic photos, as well as providing picturesque views onto the Firth.
Visitors welcome on weekdays and weekends.

Mary Queen of Scots was known play golf in the area of Longniddry in 1567 – ‘over the fields of Seton’. However, it was another 200 years before the 7th Earl of Wemyss & March bought land at Gosford ‘to be nearer the golf’ and a further 150 years before the 11th Earl invited Harry Colt to design an 18-hole course.
There have been a number of alterations to Colt’s original layout. In 1936, James Braid was invited to advise on the second hole, following which a number of changes were made to the course, although none to the second! During WW2 part of the course was ploughed up for food production, following which Philip Mackenzie Ross made good the damage and redesigned some of the layout. More recently Donald Steel advised on the course architecture, particularly the bunkering. Several of the original cross-bunkers were removed and/or relocated.

Scottie Scheffler: narrowly missed out on matching Nelly Korda's five wins in five starts, when he placed second at the Houston Open. Either side of that, he won The Arnold Palmer, The Players, and then The Masters and The Heritage.
