Simon's Golf Club

4-star: Above average course - well worth a visit.

Est. 1993

Simon's Golf Club is home to one of Denmark's top-rated championship courses, and the first one in the country to stage a European Tour event. Occupying predominantly open rolling parkland, the 27-hole layout comprises the original A and B nines, with the also Hawtree-designed C-nine having been added 14 years after the original 18-holes.

Water doesn't threaten too often on the A and B nine-hole loops, but does put in a few telling appearances on the C-nine. All three nines benefit from attractive bunkering and typically large undulating greens.

The installation of a top-quality drainage system allows the course to be played year-round, including after prolonged periods of rain. This system also allow play to continue on the regular tees and greens in the winter months, unless snow, frost or freezing rain are present ... not entirely unheard of in Denmark! One to include on your play list if you are in the area.

Tournaments

The Masters: The 88th Masters Tournament at Augusta National sees LIV golfer Jon Rahm defend his title against the world’s best. Pressing hard will be world No.1 and 2022 champion Scottie Scheffler and world No.2 Rory McIlroy (April 11-14).

Chevron Championship: the women’s major championship season gets underway for the second year at its new Carlton Woods home outside Houston, Texas. World No.2 Lilia Vu defends (April 18-21).

Who's Who

Nelly Korda: records a perfect start to 2024 with four wins out of her last four appearances on the LPGA Tour, a feat last achieved by Lorena Ochoa in 2008. Korda's win at the T-Mobile Match Play brought up her 12th LPGA Tour victory.

Scottie Scheffler: narrowly missed out on matching Nelly Korda’s three-in-three, when he placed second at the Houston Open. This followed back-to-back wins at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players. Like Korda, he remains comfortably ahead in the official world golf rankings.

Marco Simone Golf & Country Club
