CITIC Shanqin Bay Golf Club

Private: A course for members and their invited guests only.

Est. 2012

CITIC Shanqin Bay Golf Club, home to a very private and world-class coastal layout, is located directly alongside the South China Sea on the eastern seaboard of Hainan Island. Spectacular clifftop and beachside holes, and fabulous coastal scenery accentuate all the elements of this stunning Bill Coore design.

On this immensely scenic and wonderfully challenging out-and-back layout, both the front and back nines give you three holes played directly alongside the seashore, or at least on the cliffs above it. Laid out on a former pineapple plantation, Coore's skilful routing makes best use of the often steeply sloping terrain, ensuring a thoroughly playable yet challenging course.

The par-4 5th and 6th holes play in opposite directions either side of a small lake, while the closing stretch of four par-4s (three of them quite short) play along the top of the cliffs ... the 17th requiring a diagonal tee-shot across the beach. From first to last the holes here are both exciting and memorable ... if, that is, you ever get the chance to play here ... very few are accorded that honour.
