Glenbervie Golf Club

3-star: Good course – an enjoyable test for your game.

Est. 1932

Glenbervie Golf Club, home to a pleasantly tree-lined and open parkland layout, is located just outside Falkirk on the Stirling Road. Against the backdrop of the Ochil hills, five-time Open Champion James Braid made excellent use of the natural setting and native hazards to create this enjoyable parkland layout.

Pick of the holes: Glenbervie's infamous par-4 9th (Bluebell Wood) is a tough 435-yard dog-legging hole demanding an uphill drive with out-of-bounds on your right. Arguably the best looking hole on the course is the par-4 14th (Braid's). Again played uphill with the Ochil hills in the distance, it features the clubhouse as a backdrop.

Located alongside the course is the award-winning Glenbervie House Hotel (Aurora Hotels), an exclusive-use venue that is popular for weddings, conferences and other organised events. It does not cater for single-night stop-overs for visitors to Glenbervie Golf Club, unless you hire the entire 12-guest room hotel. Also adjacent to the golf course, Aurora Hotels operate the Coach House at Glenbervie, a six-bedroom luxury property hireable on an exclusive use basis.

John Panton, one of the Scotland's most successful golfers, was the golf professional at Glenbervie for almost 40 years. In 1983 the club hosted the British Boys Amateur Championship, when 17-year-old José María Olazábal from Spain beat Marc Pendaries from France in the 36-hole final.

Tournaments

The Masters: The 88th Masters Tournament at Augusta National sees LIV golfer Jon Rahm defend his title against the world’s best. Pressing hard will be world No.1 and 2022 champion Scottie Scheffler and world No.2 Rory McIlroy (April 11-14).

Chevron Championship: the women’s major championship season gets underway for the second year at its new Carlton Woods home outside Houston, Texas. World No.2 Lilia Vu defends (April 18-21).

Who's Who

Nelly Korda: records a perfect start to 2024 with four wins out of her last four appearances on the LPGA Tour, a feat last achieved by Lorena Ochoa in 2008. Korda's win at the T-Mobile Match Play brought up her 12th LPGA Tour victory.

Scottie Scheffler: narrowly missed out on matching Nelly Korda’s three-in-three, when he placed second at the Houston Open. This followed back-to-back wins at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players. Like Korda, he remains comfortably ahead in the official world golf rankings.

Marco Simone Golf & Country Club

Marco Simone Golf & Country Club: With a clubhouse that might befit a Roman Emperor, and a golf course to match, you can be sure of a memorable outing at Rome's most talked about golf facility.

Jim Fazio's original layout was much changed to create a modern Ryder Cup course ... now one of the Eternal City's (and Italy's) most revered.
