Costa Cruises, official partner of the 2023 Ryder Cup, has launched a new “cruise & golf” formula. Golfers are now able to play at a selection of 23 top-quality courses in Italy, France and Spain, while also enjoying the Costa Smeralda, the most innovative cruise ship in Costa’s fleet.
Costa’s "Cruise & Golf" allows golfers and their families to combine a unique golfing experience with the relaxation and fun of a cruise on board Costa Smeralda. Golf enthusiasts are offered a choice from 23 top-quality golf clubs; their chosen courses are played during the ship’s port calls in Italy, France and Spain. While the golfers are driving the fairways, accompanying non-golfers are able to enjoy the amenities and activities on-board, or explore wonderful places on day excursions organised by Costa.
Among the 23 selected golf clubs, your options include:
- In Italy: "Marco Simone", home of the 2023 Ryder Cup; "Golf Nazionale", centre of the Italian Golf Federation; "Olgiata", host to many Italian Opens; "Roma Acquasanta”, one of Italy’s oldest golf clubs; "Garlenda", surrounded by ancient olive groves and pine forests, and "Argentario" in beautiful south Tuscany.
- In Spain: "Royal El Prat", host to 10 Spanish Opens; "PGA Catalunya”, regularly ranked in Europe’s top five; "Son Gual", arguably Mallorca’s best; “Alcanada”, designed by legendary Robert Trent Jones; "Arabella Golf" with its magnificent Mallorcan trio of Son Vida, Son Quint and Son Muntaner.
- In France, "GC d'Aix-Marseille", host to several prestigious national tournaments; "Bastide de la Salette", with spectacular views over the Garlaban mountains and Marseille; "GC d'Aix-en-Provence" and “Sainte Baume“ surrounded by vineyards and Provençal hills.
In addition to playing top-quality courses, Costa's "Cruise & Golf" includes a series of special services to enhance the golf and cruise experience. These include, a dedicated transfer from the ship to the golf club and back, priority embarkation and disembarkation at each port of call, customised transport and storage of golf equipment on board, and a welcome kit in the cabin.
Furthermore, there is a special culinary offer allowing golf enthusiasts and their families to enjoy an exceptional variety of restaurants on Costa Smeralda - including the Archipelago restaurant, offering menus created by three top chefs, Bruno Barbieri, Hélène Darroze and Ángel León. You can also experience a range of treatments and services in the “Solemio” onboard spa and beauty salon.
