Where2Golf says:

The Scandinavian Golf Club (Old course): like peas in a pod, both the Old and New championship courses at The Scandinavian lay down a thorough test for your golfing skills in a wonderfully natural golfing environment. The Old may be a little more open, the New a tad more tree-lined, but their DNA is essentially the same. Both courses are rated in the country's Top 5, and both are supported by excellent practice facilities, a fully-equipped academy, and a fabulous award-winning clubhouse.

The two nine-hole loops of The Scandinavian's Old course effortlessly meander over pleasantly undulating terrain, with excellent playing surfaces throughout ... the import of huge amounts of sand to this former clay quarry and military training ground made sure of that. Water plays its full part in proceedings as you'll find out at the hop-skip-and-jump par-5 second hole. All four of the remaining par-5s (which come back-to-back at 9 and 10, and 17 and 18) and all five of the par-3s also bring water into play. Your course management and ball-striking will need to be firing on all cylinders if you're to stay "dry", and avoid the plentiful array of stylish bunkering.

Although the members say there's more space out here than on the New course, the Old does include some tricky par-4s of its own, as at the 1st, 6th and 11th, where accuracy from the tee will serve you better than length. Around the not overly large greens (at least that's how they look from 100 yards out), there's many a slick run-off area ... a most agreeable nod to the links courses of old.

The Old course, unlike the New, gives you plenty of opportunities to admire The Scandinavian's stunning clubhouse, on which the club's logo is based. Although just 20-minutes drive from central Copenhagen, here you are "far from the madding crowd" and able to relax in Denmark's top golfing venue.

Did you know?

In and around The Scandinavian's award-winning clubhouse, which spectacularly combines several pitched roofs, you'll find many and various works of art. These have been collected by the club's owners, and are displayed to provoke thought, discussion and the opportunity to take a step back from your golf round ... good or bad as it may have been.

European Tour professional and leading Danish player Søren Kjeldsen has made The Scandinavian his golfing home. Søren turned pro in 1995, qualified for the European Tour via the Challenge Tour in 1997 and has been part of the Tour ever since. In 2016, he and Thorbjørn Olesen became the first Danish winners of the much-prized World Cup of Golf.
