The Wisley Golf Club

Private: A course for members and their invited guests only.

Est. 1991

The Wisley Golf Club: The Wisley is a private golf club, much enjoyed by its members and their invited guests; it is not however open to casual green fee payers. If you should manage to be invited to play here, you will find an excellent and always well-presented parkland layout, comprising three nine-hole loops: the Church, Garden and Mill nines.

Circumnavigated by the River Wey and River Wey Navigation (canal), this relatively open parkland layout brings water into play on several holes. Some are flanked by the river, although more commonly by an array of small lakes and ponds.

Plenty of deep rough will also encourage you to keep your ball as close as possible to the good-width, gently undulating fairways. An abundance of stylish bunkering adds to the challenges presented at each hole, while handsomely contributing to the easy-on-the-eye aesthetics of this renowned private golf course.

Did you know?

Running alongside The Wisley Golf Club is the River Wey and River Wey Navigation (canal). Over 350 years ago, in 1653, the River Wey became the first British river to be successfully canalised for commercial traffic, the canal running from Town Bridge in the centre of Guildford up to the River Thames at Weybridge.

Combined with the younger Godalming Navigation, which extended further southward from Guildford, the River Wey Navigation, brought prosperity not only to the towns of Guildford and Godalming, but also this whole region of west Surrey and north Hampshire.

The Wisley's Church-nine takes its name from the nearby historical Wisley village church, which was built in 1150. The Garden-nine gets its name from the Royal Horticultural Society Garden that lies just to the south of the golf course across the River Wey. The Mill-nine is named after the Grade-II-listed Ockham Mill. On the other side of the Navigation canal is Pyrford Golf Club.
