Finland Best Golf Courses

Best golf courses in Finland

Finland is a land of two seasons. Winter, which lasts from 6 to 8 months, from north to south, and summer, equally intense and spectacular. Between the two, spring and autumn are as wonderful as they are short. The golfing season in Finland begins at the beginning of May and lasts until October, but you can play for twice as long as anywhere else. In the summer, night-time is just a brief period of dusk.

In and around Helsinki t
here are many 18-hole golf courses. Helsinki Golf Club (HGK) is the oldest and most prestigious golf course, founded in 1932. HGK is also widely known by the name of the old manor "Tali" and has hosted more championships than any other club in Finland, including the Ladies European Tour competition for the last four years.

Tournaments:
The American Express formerly known as the Desert Classic, and for many years played as the Bob Hope Desert Classic, will once again be decided on the Pete Dye designed Stadium course at PGA West (Jan 16-19).
The Players Championship:  for the 39th time, TPC Sawgrass, another iconic Pete Dye design, will host The Players Championship for one of the richest first prizes in world golf (March 12-15).

Who's Who:
Pete Dye:  one of the greatest golf course architects of this or any generation passes away aged 94. His contribution to golf course design, and the legacy he leaves is immense.
Jack Nicklaus:  like Pete Dye a native of Ohio, actually started his golf course design career working together with Dye. In 1967 Dye asked Nicklaus to input to his design for The Golf Club in Columbus, Ohio. Two years later they worked together on the revered Harbour Town Golf Links in South Carolina.
