Plum Creek Golf Club

3+ (3 gold): one of our top-rated 3-star courses, worthy of 3½ stars.
Plum Creek Golf Club Est. 1999

Where2Golf says:

Plum Creek Golf Club is home to a locally well-regarded open parkland layout. The course, which exudes many classic Pete Dye design features, is located in the northern outskirts of the city of Indianapolis. This eminently playable and relatively open layout features tall grasses, multiple water hazards, strategically placed bunkers, testing green complexes and plenty of challenge for golfers of all skill levels.

The front-nine loop winds through the Plum Creek neighbourhood, with the holes laid out in pairs, one heading out, one back. The back-nine loops around Purdue University's Lynwood Barn and features most of the water hazards. Here you'll find large ponds flanking the fairways, and plenty of long ribbon like bunkers as well as mischievous pot bunkers ... giveaway Pete Dye traits. The par-5 17th and par-4 18th holes create an excellent finishing duo, both flanked by the same large pond.

Referred to by many as the father of modern golf course architecture, Pete Dye has made an indelible mark on the game of golf. After carefully studying golf courses in the British Isles, Dye honed his craft in Indiana, before going on to produce a raft of stunning designs, including TPC Sawgrass, Whistling Straits and Harbor Town. Dye designs, created by Pete, his wife Alice and their family, now span the globe.

PETE DYE GOLF TRAIL: Established in 2011 to showcase seven of the great man's courses in Indiana, the Pete Dye Golf Trail comprises: Birck Boilermaker (Kampen course), Brickyard Crossing, French Lick (Pete Dye course), Maple Creek, Mystic Hills, Plum Creek and The Fort.

Koksijde Golf ter Hille Golf Club: on what was previously open farmland, an enjoyable and challenging links-style layout has been crafted.
