Wolf Run Golf Club

4+ (4 gold): one of our top-rated 4-star courses, worthy of 4½ stars.
Wolf Run Golf Club Est. 1989

Where2Golf says:

Wolf Run Golf Club: Originally developed as a private men-only golf club, women members are now being accepted at Wolf Run, as well as outside visitors on a restricted basis. This Steve Smyers design lays down a tough golfing challenge, where rifle straight shot-making will be needed to hit several narrow fairways.

At times exuding an open linksy feel, at others more tree-lined, plenty of stylish bunkering and several threatening water hazards also maintain the testing golf challenge at this quiet and wonderfully natural layout.

Stay & Play at Wolf Run: onsite accommodation available, see Where2Stay section below.

Did you know?

Wolf Run was conceived in the early 1980s by the late Jack Leer, a local dentist and amateur golfer, whose dream was to build a demanding golf course emulating the style of a 1920s design. To realise his vision he turned to Steve Smyers, a designer greatly influenced by the legendary architects of the 1920s and 30s ...the "Golden Age" of golf course design, when the likes of Harry Colt, Alister MacKenzie, James Braid, Albert W. Tillinghast, Donald Ross, Charles Blair Macdonald, William S. Flynn and Stanley Thompson set the bar. Since its founding in 1989 the Wolf Run course has been sold to new owners on at least two occasions.

The Welcombe Hotel Spa & Golf Club: provides an excellent Stay & Play opportunity, just a mile out of town from William Shakespear's birthplace in the centre of Stratford. Royal Ostend Golf Club: represents Belgium’s only real "beside-the-seaside" links golf course (others like Royal Zoute are located a little way inland). Here at Ostend many holes make excellent use of an impressive area of sand dunes. From the long par-4 5th through to the par-5 14th, you play across fabulously open and gently undulating golfing terrain, with few trees, fine sea views and probably a bit of North Sea wind thrown in for good measure.

Koksijde Golf ter Hille Golf Club: on what was previously open farmland, an enjoyable and challenging links-style layout has been crafted.
